Complicite - Mnemonic

Has anyone read Complicite's devised play "Mnemonic"? I read it a few years ago and it suddenly dawned on me how relevant it all felt to Uncanny Valley. A quote from Simon McBurney about the production that particularly struck me:

"I had wanted to make a piece about memory for many years. At the source, we merely investigated our own memories and how they functioned. How much do you remember? How far back does your memory go? To your childhood? Beyond into your parent's childhood? If memory is not possible without consciousness, and our conscious selves are created by our backgrounds and where we come from, how does what we remember tell us who we are? And if we forget where we come from, what continuity we are part of, does that mean we forget who we are?"

I can't find my copy of the play but I'm gonna keep looking. Here's a look to the show's website anyway:

Space Suit Couture

From Thom Browne's Spring 2011 collection...

I really like the individual dressing stations: just a hanger and a shelf.

Bam! Shark print velvet shorts-suit! Glitter lips! Not in our world at all, but dang, space suits are so handy for reveals.

The Memory Doctor

Just came across this series in Slate about Dr. Elizabeth Loftus, a scientist who studies and experiments with memory. She was instrumental in debunking 'recovered memories' of abuse in the 90s and ironically she has now been experimenting with how to implant positive false memories in patients to promote better eating habits.

Really fascinating -- and there is something strange about the way it is written that I can't put my finger on. Somehow it makes her sound like a fictional character.

Maybe that's why I was so strongly reminded of the psychiatrist in "Lathe of Heaven" -- and the mysterious 'doctor' character that Marc kind of played early on in UV (now that I think about it, maybe the doctor should come back as a stronger character in round two).

Umm, WOW?

First thought: "You're fucking kidding me!"
Second thought: "Steal shamelessly."

Ground control, a light table covered with sand & a camera mounted either above or below with occasional projections when we choose to do live animations over narrative or recollections. Anyone tempted?

Alien Wall

And here are some really amazing pictures I found last night after the meeting to try and describe what the floating wall on the Other's side should look like. As its based on whatever found wall/items we can find, several options of the way in which it was burned/distorted/worn down, but all very, very cool!

Set image onslaught!

My apologies for the wait, but here are the original sketches we're working from, if it posts right from the first ones to the latest so that if you want to see how things have changed and solidified you can, but if you don't want to the important is at the top!
